The weather is beginning to improve and looking more spring like. The bite is still kind of bouncing back and forth which at times makes you have to dig into your bag of tricks. Smaller bait for the trout helps saving the larger shrimp for reds and drum. The blue crabs have been more available this week but the big drum have tapered off some after the last moon. The sheepshead are beginning to show some promise and with the waning of the current moon phase they should fire off any day. Fiddlers and small shrimp fished on a small 1/4oz jig should provide some good catches. The nearshore limestone ledges and reefs have been holding some grass head porgies, sheepshead , snapper and a few seabass when the ocean permits Look for this weather to settle for a-few days and the fishing should continue to improve. Try hitting the rocks, docks, and drops in the Mayport Basin for success.
